    Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

what is not to like about a band who is on a indie label that wants to be like the old Motown?!?
Moreover, a band who rejects technology in favor of musicianship.

The unfortunate part of the history of Sharon King and the Dap Kings was when Mark Ronson took their sound and the Dap Kings band and put Amy Winehouse in front on 'Back to Black'.  Not to take away from Amy as an artist and song writer of her own hits, but Amy and the producer fell in in love with their sound and essentially replaced Sharon with Amy.

Long term, it benefited them once the story became known (see Amy's wiki page).

Thanks Maxim - never saw the vid with P before

Brooklyn's Daptone's House of Soul (Daptone Records recording studio)
The Dap-Tones are basically the house band for that record label. I didn't really follow A.Winehouse - so I didn't notice what they did for her.

I hadn't posted anything about them until now, because I had the idea that I would feature them on a Webcast, but so far time hasn't been in my favor.

Anyway I need to check out the other bands on the Daptone lable > Antibalas, The Sugarman 3, The Budos Band, The Poets of Rhythm, The Daktaris, The Mighty Imperials, Lee Fields, Charles Bradley, Binky Griptite, and Naomi Davis.
