    Pure 80's Videos Collection

Post by maxim9691 on Mon Apr 04, 2011 11:22 am

How about a Video post with a Theme ?
Here are a group of Vids that sum up what it was like to watch MTV in the 80's.
I know my friends watched nearly all the time simply to catch the newest, latest thing to talk about.
Most of my friends just went from one trend to the next and seemed to change likes and dislikes from week to week.
I guess you might say that MTV was to the 80's what Facebook is to the kids now.

    Rick Springfield - Human Touch

Post by maxim9691 on Mon Apr 04, 2011 11:48 am

    Rick Springfield - Human Touch

It's funny at the start of the video on the computer view screen it says "2016" so I'm guessing the video and elements of the song are supposed to be about the future.
Sure it's not deep but it had a few things right.

    Everybody's talking to computers,
They're all dancing to a drum machine
I know I'm living on the outside
    Scared of getting caught between
I'm so cool and calculated alone in the modern world

But Sally has a hard time holding back
The alley to her heart is a beaten track
She's got the love monkey riding on her back

We all need the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
I need it the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
We all need it, and I need it too

You know, I got my walls, Sally calls them prison cells
Sometimes I need protection, I've got the chains
    I got the warning bells
I sit so snug and isolated alone in the modern world

But Sally has a hard time holding back
The alley to her heart is a beaten track
She's never out of love, yeah she's got the knack
You've got love I want it, come on girl

We all need the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
I need it the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
We all need it, and I need it too

    Human Touch
    Human Touch
    Human Touch
    Human Touch

I'm so scared and isolated in the modern world

    We all need
We all need the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
We all need the Human Touch
I need it the Human Touch
    We all need Human Touch
I need it the Human Touch
We all need it, and I need it too

    INXS - Mediate

Post by maxim9691 on Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:21 pm

    INXS - Mediate

One of my favorite videos from that time period.
It seems simple enough but there was just something that about it that drew my attention.

Beneath the lyric "a special date" in the "Mediate" portion of the video, the cue card shown reads "9-8-1945". This refers to the date August 9, 1945 which was the date the atomic bomb, codenamed Fat Man, was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. As the date is in the little endian format, with the day first and month second, American observers sometimes confuse the date for September 8, 1945.
