PC shutting down after few hours of inactivity?

Post by Raserisk on Mon Jun 14, 2010 1:09 am

Even 7 months after getting this new rig, I'm still learning about WIN7, anyways last night I was doing a scan on the computer and went and watched some movies for 3-4 hours, then came back and saw that the PC was turned off, I turned it back on and it went straight to log-in screen.

Some kind of built in inactivity, energy saving program?

I had a similiar issue that was easy to fix. I'm not techy, but give this a try may correct you problem.

RIght click on ur desktop which pops up a display properties window & go to the screen saver tab.
at the bottom on the right side is a button that says power. Click that...
    Pop up: power options window
set turn off hard disk: never & you should be good to go.
I also set my system stand by to never also.

    Hope that helps!!
