PB Summer podcast 5.1- advance warning

Post by purpleblues1 on Mon Apr 19, 2010 4:19 pm

I was listening to Maceo's Musicals podcast , it got me thinking about "Guilty Pleasures" .
I could sing along to all the songs in the first half... it took me back to a more innocent time.
Then , I  started thinking about my own "GP" and how to decide what was and what should be shared.
I came up with Reggae or Country or Blues ,but everyone knows about my BLues thing and the other 2 seem a bit "populist", so I thought of summer , the great summers when I was a youth.. the late 70's, the 80's ... Festivals, parties, no cares ,no responsibilities and some great music....
    so here's the first instalment...
    POWERPOP SUMMER..
    track listing is as follows:

1 The Knack - My Sharona
2 Blue Oyster Cult -The great Sun Jester
3 Cheap Trick - Dream Police
4 Dave Edmunds - I Knew The Bride
5 Golden Earing - Twilight Zone
    6 Triumph - Cool Down
7 The only Ones - Another Girl ,Another Planet
8 The Cars - Best Friends Girl
9 Martha & The Muffins - Echo Beach
    10 Tom Robinson 2-4-6-8 Motorway
11 BTO - You Ain't Seen Nuthin' yet
12 Alannah myles - Black Velvet
13 It Bites - Calling All the Heroes
14 The Lovin' Spoonful - Summer In THe City
    15 Alice cooper - School's Out
    16 The Tubes - She's A Beauty
17 Dan Reed Network - Mix It Up
18 Zodiac Mindwarp - Deiving On Holy Gasoline
19 Dan Reed Network - Chill Out ( For Scoop )
    Cool

Yes, Wales is full of cold. I wake up with a cold every morning, but it's usually gone by lunchtime. Sorry about that ...

Oh, and I tweaked the artwork, as most of the artists were American, I felt that the cover needed to reflect this to in a more direct manner

Thanks for listening and providing feedback.
The thought behind this selection was "Guilty Pleasures" , hence the nostalgic trip back to the 80's, I tried for a Summery powerpop vibe, only you entropy listeners can tell if I succeeded or not.
Don't worry, Podcast 6 will be back to the eclectic mix of the obscure and the unknown, with a ripple of funk or jazz or reggae or ambient flowing through it , depending on my mood at the time Cool
